Darth Sidious Lightsaber

We are always looking for new challenges and embarking on new adventures to learn and grow from but… sometimes, you miss the warm waters and sunny beaches of the “comfort zone”. We knew where we were going, but even so, the challenge of Darth Sidious Lightsaber from Emperor Palpatine has been a tough one to overcome.

This project has required a lot of work to overcome the many pitfalls hidden inside. The first and fundamental is the lack of space. Its internal diameter of 22mm makes putting all the components is a feat. This affects practically all the aspsimba lightsaberectos of the sabre, maximum size of the components, refrigeration, space for the wiring … etc.. To finish off, the length is also short so the challenge is even greater. After a lot of thinking, several chassis redesigns and scratching millimeters from here and there we get everything inside.

The fixation of the edge also meant a job to look for the best solution. The place where the fixation should go is full of trims and pieces that are not flat. In addition to being decorative pieces we needed that the location of the fixation was as integrated as possible in the design. There was only one area that seemed adequate to us and that fulfilled those conditions. Just at the tip we drilled to make the thread for a screw pin to hold the edge.

But finally all the effort was worth it and the sabre is finished and ready to brighten up the day for its happy owner. Thank you for trusting us and we hope this will make Darth Sidious a little less grumpy ;D
